Total or specific for certain infections? Out of range high or low? How out of range? Why was it tested?

Total.
Low.

A large range of bloodwork was done.

IGG IGM and IGA are antibodies so I believe it means that you don't have antibodies for that particular virus.

How low? Which ones were low? Those tests are done to look for immunodeficiency.

To above posters, there's a difference between testing IGM/IGG levels for specific infections and testing total levels in the blood. The latter is used for checking out immune problems.

I have 3 children with confirmed immune deficiencies. They are low in igg and iga. You need to check your children's titers to vaccination if they are low igg, they may require extra vaccines to be protected.

All 3 of these were low.
Not extremely low but not in range.

What could it mean?

It indicates immune deficiency or immune suppression. There are many many things that could cause this, ranging from primary immunodeficiency to acquired ones due to infections, medications, autoimmunity and so on. Why were the tests ordered?

Op, have you figured anything out? I’m looking at my DD’s lab results and the iGa is very high (out of range). Does this mean she has an autoimmune disease? I will follow up with the rheumatologist tomorrow. If anyone knows what a high Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum means please share.

It can test allergies.
Also antibodies to see if you have or had a certain virus or disease or immunity/antibodies due to vaccination

My child has low igg numbers and gets monthly ivig for immune deficiency. Igg antibodies help a person fight infections and when they are low, the child will have a hard time getting rid of viruses and infections. (My son developed pandas as a result of his chronic infections).
Best to see an immunologist if you are concerned.

My son has low IgA and is constantly getting infections/fevers/colds. Our pediatrician told us there’s nothing to do, but we want to see a specialist. Any recommendations on the type of doctor we should be looking into?’

Thank you!

Can you tell me more about the ivig? Pediatrician suggested it may be helpful for dc.

You should really see an immunologist. Most pediatricians are not equipped to manage immunodeficiencies and should not be prescribing ivig based off of labs without a diagnosis.
