I passed by the school and saw 6 toddlers with 2 Morahs doing an activity in the front.
What are the prereqs to get into such Boro Park programs?
Is it government funded?
Need to be below income level?
Please enlighten me. How do people know about these things?

I think it's a daycare/headstart program that both parents need to be working to be eligible.

Both parents need to work and make very little. There is a wait list that can take years. Find out if any of the Jewish social service assistance agencies assist with this.

The best way to get in is to join their EMP (Expectant Moms Program). There are 8 slots available annually and you need to contact them during your first trimester. All EMP slots are guaranteed a slot in their program. That's how I got in. However, I think it's only for April due dates. It also means putting up with home visitors weekly to play with your child until he starts the center based program at around age 2. But I really enjoyed the biweekly Mommy and Me socializations at the center.

What center?
You had weekly visitors for two years?
Why was it worth it?

So how do so many families get eligibility?
It seems all the daycares and playgroups want vouchers and not having vouchers is the exception.
What am I missing?
We are lower middle class.

The center that you passed. The school

Yes, I had weekly visitors for two years. I didn't realize how annoying it would be. Structuring my day to be home at that time. Pressure to run home if I wasn't. Making sure the house was clean. Losing an hour of my week to sit with the home visitor while she played with my child. Etc. But between the socializations and the opportunity to join the center, I guess it was worth it. It is an amazing program. But all the non EMP home based program slots who were not offered a slot in the center based program, no, I couldn't fathom why they did it.

No, only 8 of them. The rest of the slots I think go to families with pull.

Yeled also has an Early Headstart which is almost equally as hard to get into. They try getting 'diversity' so if you have twins or some unique situation it helps.
