I got my daughter adhd meds when she was 5. We had to jump through a bunch of hoops like prior authorization, I had to write a letter, I think her Morah had to write a letter as well about how it was affecting her functioning but they pushed it through.

Meds for a 3 year old could be warranted - but don't think a regular pediatrician is the one to initiate it (maybe once a child psychiatrist has found something that works a pediatrician could continue treatment). SSRIs are fairly common. I'd be more comfortable using that as opposed to risperdone. That is a much more serious drug - and should only be prescribed by someone with proper training. Wishing you success.
