To be a psychotherapist?
Is there a test I can take to help me determine?
Is there someone I can consult with?
Children are grown, need to figure out what to do with the second half of my life.
My brain feels atrophied, don't know if I'd do well in school without a lot of tutoring.
NY location.

You do know that it takes loads of emotional energy once you land a position as a therapist, right? That’s after the years schooling. Are you up for that? I feel capable too and like you, not busy with little ones anymore but I can’t see myself doing it because of the emotional stress that comes along with it. I’ve been doing it free of charge for many years to friends and family. It takes a toll. It really does.
Sorry I can’t help with your schooling inquiry.
