Did you vaccinate your newborn for this? If so, why?
This seem to be spread s-xually, or IV needle use (like shooting up heroin?) and not from cough/sneeze/ spit.
Is there legitimate reason to be concerned? Or you're just going along with the regular CDC program? Following doctor's advice? Need it for school entry?
What am I overlooking?
I think there are a lot of great vaccines out there, and I give almost all of them to my kids, but so far I have skipped this one and wondering how others feel about it.
Do my kids really need this one and if so why?
THANK YOU!

Yes because I know someone whose child caught it at the playground. But I understand everyone's private risk assessment.

I skip and in NJ they dont need for school.
If they ever need a blood transfusion you would want them to have it.

So how does the parent who skips know if they’ll need a blood transfusion?

Blood donations aren't screened first for Hep B?

Can you be more specific about the actual means of transmission?

It's a risk you're taking. I'm just pointing out the risk.
I said I skip, but actually I have given it to my preteens. I only skip when their babies. Besides fo flu and hpv, by the time they are 13 they have the rest.

Stangers child fell off of a bike at the playground and there was blood transfer on the playground equipment or the child went to help- the story was unclear. Hep B is hearty so it much easier to transmit than HIV for example.
This example is rare, but did happen and I don't have a problem with vaccines so why not.

Never to a newborn. Read the manufacturer inserts and make an informed decision.

I don’t give newborn. They get it with the rest of their 2 month vaccines.

It is mandatory for school in NJ but it is transmitted by the exchange of bodily fluids so if they live with someone who has it and share a toothbrush they would be at risk.
Blood transfusions are screened for that. That playground story sounds bizarre.
The doctors tried to convince me to give it to my infant son, "He'll need it if he joins Hatzala". 😂
If he would, he shouldn't rely on a vaccine he took 20/30 years before.
