Have you ever met someone with that name? I guess I'm asking how outlandish it is.

Feels like a term of endearment more then a name to me.
If you love it go for it.

My neighbor was named Nechama as a baby, and she's called Nechama ("ch" as in Michelle, so it's pronounced Neshama)

In Israel I wouldn't use it. Nice sound, beautiful meaning, but in slang it's used kind of like how Southerners use "bless your heart"

I disagree. I know Neshamas in Israel and it's a name like any other.

You know the “sefardi world” is quite big? I’m there apparently and I don’t know any... if anyone in my community names this it would be rather odd.

I know a few Neshamas - one is 12 the other about 15,
I think Neshama Carlebach's name is Neshama Tehora Nasata Bi - one of her relatives once told me that...

I don't care for it, but you do you. It's possible I don't like the name because I wasn't a Carlebach fan.

Reminds me of one time when I was about that age and I asked my mom what she would do if I named my future daughter Bikini. She kept a straight face and said, “I’ll call her Becky.” My mom never did take the bait. 😂
