We know gnocchi!
OK, now that I got the immediate reaction out of the way question for gnocchi users: I bought gnocchi for a recent recipe in Family First for caramelized onions/pastrami/gnocchi.
The recipe called for frozen gnocchi, which I forgot. Turns out the store had shelf-stable gnocchi which I bought. The recipe is something like caramelizing onions, adding shredded pastrami, making a sauce with wine and broth, then tossing with gnocchi and baking. Can I use it? Thanks!

I made the sauce and it looks delicious, and I’m also planning to use the shelf-stable gnocchi!

Cook the gnocchi according to package directions first. The frozen gnocchi is cooked.

Yes they're interchangeable, just make sure you cook the shelf stable ones according to the package and you should be fine.

I'm thinking of doing that recipe, are you doing it with packaged pastrami, or your cooking the meat separately and then shredding it?
Would love to skip the meat cooking part, but I'm not reto give up on taste

I once made a recipe with shelf stable gnocchi & it had a sour taste.
Frozen was a lot better.

Frozen gnocchi is a lot better quality, the bartenura dried gnocchi has a little bit of a weird sourish taste IMO.
I was thinking of making that recipe, let us know how it came out please.

It was in the Shavuos Family First insert two weeks ago. Sorry I'm not techy enough to do it. I don't know if it's been linked anywhere.
Oh, and now I'm nervous about using the shelf stable stuff. But apparently a lot of people have had positive experience with it.

I assume that the posters who said to cook the shelf stable said that because that brings it to the state of the frozen gnocchi? (Is frozen pre cooked?)

I love the shelf stable bartenura, I prefer it over the frozen kind.

I want to saute it in butter. Should I boil it first?
