Twins run in my family, I had a disappearing twin, and I wish for twins every pregnancy. So far, to the sheer delight of my husband, no luck!

Did you dream of having twins and then became pregnant with twins? Did you suspect twins but it was a singleton? Were you shocked to find out you were having twins?

From the day I got married my husband was teasing me that I was pregnant. When I got a positive test not that long after, he started teasing me that we were having twins. I said "nah...."

I had horrible symptoms but I was pregnant for the first time so didn't know what to expect. There was no way I was having twins as they don't run in the family and I never even wanted twins.

My first appointment the Dr. saw 2 heartbeats on the sono. I turned to my husabnd and said "just don't say triplets or they'll find another one!"

BH they've brought so much bracha to my life and I can't imagine living without them! But I agree with what other posters said- its really hard! Babies are meant to be born one at a time for a reason!

I didn’t think it would happen to me. I was surprised.
One thing for sure it is not two for the price of one. It is two for the price of two at the same time. (Or two for the price of three) My pregnancy was much more difficult and high risk. Taking care of two little babies is harder than taking care of one.
I believe mothers of twins forget fast how hard it was or are uncomfortable complaining to random acquaintances. When you meet me I’ll tell you that yes they’re adorable and so cute. I won’t go into detail that they screamed all night or that We all feel sick together and I’m changing diapers one after another and I’m so tired. You still might want two at once but it’s hard. I love them both and my other kids too but without a lot of help and many shortcut that are against my nature it’s not possible to survive.

I could have written this

A friend felt different by her second pregnancy. She was feeling movement all over. She asked her Dr and was told repeatedly there's only one heartbeat meaning only one child. In her last trimester she asked the Dr to please do a sono before she goes into labor as she thinks it's twins. Dr didn't want to as he didn't believe there was more than one. Sono showed identical twins who were back to back! The Dr was shocked

I always pictured twins. Always dreamed up twin named, liked looking at twin strollers, etc. Was totally not surprised to find out there were two.

OP, why won't your doctor give you an appointment? For me the moment I found out I was pregnant I went in for blood work. Hormones were high so they said come back in two days for more and sure enough it was more than doubling, so I had an early scan which is where we confirmed it was twins.

I would love to go as soon as policy but the office said their policy is not before 8 weeks. I’ve had a pregnancy loss plus I know a couple of people who have had ectopics and caught it early so I would prefer to just go already but what can I do...

I also have no symptoms at all yet. But I didn’t really have symptoms by my other pregnancies either. Barely nauseous if at all. (For me, the end of pregnancy is way harder than the beginning).

I’m not naive about how difficult a twin pregnancy is. Specifically for me, I don’t know how many pregnancies I’ll be able to have but it won’t be whenever I wish. I dream about a bigger family and multiples seems to be the only way it could happen... like I said I am thrilled to be pregnant and one is a huge blessing. I’m just using this safe space to dream anonymously Smile

Wow that’s late.
You found out after the 20 week sono? Or you didn’t have that.

My sister had twins children #2 and 3. When the doctor showed her 2 heartbeats on her first (very early) sonogram, she was in shock. She missed her exit on the highway driving home from the appointment, just couldn’t wrap her head around it! shock

My first reaction to this was “manifesting twins” sounds nice - I had to “carry and birth” mine! Lol

To answer the actual question in the OP, I had a gut feeling it was twins the time that it was. I’ve had strong intuitions about all my pregnancies though. Like for example my first one, before we even knew for sure I was pregnant, I had a strong gut feeling, “it’s a boy!” And I was right.

I also instinctively that once pregnancy that initially seemed fine would not last, and indeed it ended at almost 10 weeks (after several serious issues were detected with it in the weeks leading up to the loss).

But anyway, back to the happy stuff... my “it’s a boy” was a boy, and my “there’s more than one in there” were twins. 💕

Never dreamed in my life I would have twins, let alone 2 sets! Shocked is not the word to describe my reaction when I was told I was expecting twins for the second time.
