You can bring back the exoskeletons, just not live bugs. There's no problem with putting them in a viewing box, like the way people do when they collect butterflies and beetles.

I just picked up the most gorgeous beetle today! it's wing case is a stunning emerald green, and it's head is copper with a dark rose undertone. Truly one of Hashem's living jewels. (I don't worry about taking it, because they all die after mating, just like cicadas.)
