This may be a really long shot, but I figured it was worth a try.

Many years ago I borrowed a book from the public library that I found fascinating.

I don't remember the author or the title.

He spoke about how the education of today is so ineffective.

For example he spoke about how we make our kids study and review long division, when in the real world, no one does long division. We all use calculators. Also, whatever a student of computer programming learns as a Freshman is obsolete before he graduates college.

He had a chapter on children from inner city public schools. He spoke about a typical inner city student who cannot pass her exams because when she gets out of school, she has to work as a waitress or something to earn some money, then she has no time to study. She also cannot concentrate in school due to exhaustion or stress from the home. This in turn leads to more kids dropping out of school, and many of them turn to substance abuse.

Iirc, he spoke alot about ADHD, and how the system is failing them.

He had a lot of revolutionary ideas, thought I dont remember much more right now.

Does anyone have any idea what book this is, please?

Hmmm. No, I just looked at the titles. None if them seemed familiar.
This book must be at least 10 or 15 years old.

I'd just go on Amazon and start looking at recommended titles. Doesn't sound like Ron Clark but he's a good name to start with

Thanks. .
I googled Alfie Kohn and Ron Clark but none of their books ring a bell.

There is a book I found online that I thoight was it: The case against education by Bryan Caplan. But I see it was published in 2018, so it can't be it. Smile

Call up the public library and tell them about this book you are looking for, ask them what call # it would be in and start from there.

No it wasn't a Jewish book.
I've googled this and searched for a long time.
I will look in the library database, thanks for the suggestion..
