When do you start getting worried and looking into it?
And who would you discuss it with- ped? endo?

Also, does it make a difference if the girl is very petite and small. Like does that it more likely that she's late?

Yes, it absolutely makes a difference if the girl is very petite. I would have her discuss with her pediatrician at her next annual visit. If she is 17, it's late. Eating a lot of ice cream often does the trick.

11-16 is normal. I'd consult a Dr at 17.
I'd be concerned if a small petite 12 year old had signs of puberty.

How about a thin 15 year old who hasn’t gotten her period yet, and sisters did as soon as they turned 13?

Nothing to worry about.
It totally varies- my sister got hers around 12, I got mine at 14.5

Doesn't matter when sisters did. Every individual is different.

Can be normal. Every child is unique in genetics and habits (food, exercise). These factors influence physical development.

The older sisters are thin as well? Are their eating habits similar?

I'm thin-ish and short. I got mine at 15 and my fertility is normal.

I got mine at 14.5 At the higher end, but not considered something to worry about. Tall and thin-ish.

This is really a question for your endocrinologist. A bone density scan might be helpful.

My DD just turned 15. She is skinny and petite, hardly has breasts developing.
I took her to the ped, even though I was pretty sure there was nothing to worry about. DD actually wanted to go. I think she's feeling self-conscious about her under-development.
Doctor said nothing to worry about. She has pubic hair already. Dr sent her for some blood tests, and everything was fine b"H.

At 16 my mom took me to an ob/gyn. Turns out I had PCOS. With all the worrying that my mother did, it’s amazing that I turned out even semi-normal. Chill.

I don't understand the medical basis for this concern. ETA - unless your concern is that she will remain petite, okay I hear that. Height growth can slow down once period sets in.

I have two siblings who are both petite (5 ft, and 5'2) and they got their periods at 11. Both of them have children B"H with no interventions.

totally varies. But you can try to plump her up a bit, focusing on calcium-rich foods (like icecream!) and this can push her body to develop. (this is the advice given to me by PA at my pediatrician's office to DD and she got her period a short while later at 15 1/2).

I got mine 2 months after my 12th birthday and was pretty petite, I was perfectly ok and nothing to be concerned about getting at that age

It is normal to get a period as late as 16. No reason to be running to doctors until she is 17

There was a thread recently "dos and don'ts of puberty" (or something like that) where alot of posters (including me) wrote about how our moms were crazy anxious when we didnt get periods by 13, 14. A moms anxiety can really affect their daughter negatively.

It doesn't matter when your other daughters got their periods. My mom and sisters got it at 10/11 and I didnt get it until I was close to 15. I am very tall and thin (although I love food so I guess I just have a fast metabolism)

By the time I was 14 my mom was going nuts, she dragged me around to multiple doctors. I underwent pelvic ultrasounds and endless bloodwork (literally every few months).even once I got my period my cycles were long and irregular. My mom was convinced I was going to have major fertility issues. Well I am in my high 20's now and pregnant with #3 and I actually have very regular cycles now (when I am not preg, BF, or on BC).

Just chill. I dont necessarily think that encouraging her to overeat is smart.
