As a kid I had a 45 minute commute (highway). I always resented it and was so jealous of the in-town kids who lived a few blocks from school. I was ASTOUNDED when I learned that some of their bus rides were as long, or longer, than my ride!

Yup! My kids school is a 5 minute drive from my house and they're on the bus for 50 minutes. It's crazy.

we live around a 10 min drive from my sons school, but he is first to be picked up and last to be dropped off, so he is on the bus for 40 to 50 min...
my youngest goes to a school 45 min drive bec he has an iep and couldnt get accepted to local schools, but he is first to be picked up and last to be dropped off...he is on the bus for 60 to 75 min and gets home later than my older kids...its hard to hold it in if needs bathroom and comes home(not as much time to do hw) late and is exhausted from the trip ....
I really think they purposely pick certain families to be first to be picked up/ last to be dropped off bec the ones picked up first are obviously going to be on the bus the longest....

Ranges from a 20-min walk to a 3-min walk.

I am so grateful I was able to walk to school.
In HS it was a 25 minute walk, but still better than a long bus ride.

I live in Jackson. I can say for certain that most routes are close to 60 min, my daughters bus is an hour and 10 minutes. And I live on the border of Lakewood. If the schools are oak street/vassar the run is minimum 50 min. Cross street can be 30-40 min
