I dunno about doctor's offices, but when I call the bank phoneline to check my balances or transfer money, I sit through a lecture about "we don't know anything about your refund status, or your stimulus payment, or your unemployment benefits, if you want to transfer money or check balances, use our online banking or bank-by-phone line, etc.etc.etc. Umm, yah, did I or did I not just call your bank-by-phone line?

Try pressing zero. Or cursing... I've heard those are ways that can sometimes get you to an operator.
Or else, see if there is am email/ portal option.
Sometimes you can request a callback.
