Hi,
How should berets be washed so that their longevity is maximized?
Please share your tried and true methods.
TIA!

Berets of what fabric? I hand wash wool berets in cold water, roll them in a towel and air-dry.

Machine washing and drying kills clothes more than the act of wearing them. Hand washing briefly in cool to lukewarm soapy water and then air-drying is the least stressful method other than dry-cleaning. Dishwashing liquid or plain hand soap like Ivory are as good as or better than Woolite and other cold-water products. You can "dry-clean" the sweatband between washes by rubbing with cornstarch or fuller's earth, letting stand overnight or so, then brushing or vacuuming out the powder.
