I want to buy baseball mitts (and balls) for my 3 boys ages 12,10,8
they are not very sports inclined..trying to get them more into it before camp starts.
I am lost on amazon, can someone tell me what kind of mitt I should order?
Cheap, but decent enough to work that they can enjoy themselves.

My older son agrees they have to be fitted in the store

I bought a mitt on Amazon it was fine. My son I ly recently got into it and I wasn't about to make a big deal until I see how committed he is. Just get whatever it says for their size. Also realize if they're right handed then the glove goes in their left handed and vice versa.

Just got this for my 13 year old. Both him and my husband say that it’s good.

If your boys are just going to use it to get an idea of how to play, you can probably buy off the internet.

If your kids play baseball on a regular basis, it's best if you go to a store and have them try on a bunch of mitts. It has to fit right.

If you really cannot go in or have someone else take them to a sporting goods store to get fitted then call a sporting goods store and ask them to help you over the phone and order from them online.
Good luck!

As a mom of boys who play baseball, I think you're fine buying off the internet, if you just want them to get a taste of the sport and especially if you just had a baby Smile as another poster mentioned, just make sure you figure out if they are right or left handed (which hand they use to catch vs which hand they use to throw, which may not necessarily correlate with their dominant writing hand)

I don't know why this was directed only at moms of boys, but I too suggest trying them in person. You have to get a feel for how it is to catch a ball. Perhaps if they have friends with mitts they can try, an added advantage being they'd already be broken in so your kids might get a better sense of how they'd feel down the line.
