Attn: Creative, Artistic, Out of the Box thinkers:

What could these mostly outdated commercial knitting machine needles be used for, for a profit?

I have many thousands of them.

These are 3" long.

I have variations of these.

Try selling on eBay I'm sure people are always looking for obscure replacement parts

Thanks, they only buy a ton at a time, like bashed up cars. We tried.

They look like they could be used for latch hook rugs.

I'm sure someone on Ebay has been searching high and low for them!

Try listing them at a few price points. First, list a lot of 10 needles starting at .99 cents. If they don't sell, list the lot starting at $19.99. Sometimes a higher starting price will make a person think that they are more valuable. If that fails, list them as "Buy it now" at $9.99, and let them sit there for a while. Then go back to your .99 cent listing.

Cycle through, and you're sure to get some buyers. Just don't list different price points at the same time, or you'll defeat your purpose. Be patient, it's kind of like fly fishing. Stand there and wait for the fish to swim by - don't chase them.

I once had a pair of earrings listed with a starting price of $9.99, and no one bought them. I relisted them two weeks later, and the bidding went up to $78.00! The same style earrings sold on my website for $25.00. Very Happy

It just goes to show that sales are dependent on timing, and target audience. You need both to happen simultaneously. It's just sheer luck, mostly.
