I researched a ton and have been in the pandas trenches for a few years already. For sure ask your pediatrician for longer than a five day zithromycin cycle. You need at least a month to see if it helps. There are also other antibiotics that have positive results like cefdinir and augmenting. If your pediatrician isnt open to it, please tell us where u live and we can help you find a specialist.
If you would like to join a pandas WhatsApp chat for frum women let me know.
Also, you mentioned that ur child displayed ocd symptoms when his sibling had strep. Kids with pandas often have strep themselves without typical symptoms. Neuropsychological symptoms would be a sign of having strep or other illness or virus themselves.

I would like to join. Thanks

So my son is a few days into the Zithromax prescription and we are seeing definite improvement B"H. Definitely still seeing OCD behaviors but not as extreme.

Anyway, I only have one pack. I would like to consult with someone knowledgeable about PANDAS treatment about further cycles of Zithromax. Is it safe to do regular strength Zithromax back to back? Or is there some special protocol with a lower dose of Zithromax? Who can advise who is knowledgeable about PANDAS, now that Dr Shulman is not accessible? Thanks ....

Also, why is this a controversial diagnosis? Is it because it's been hijacked by people who don't really have PANDAS and are just using it as a default diagnosis? I mean, PANDAS is obviously legit, it responds to medical treatment. I don't get it.

Yes, it’s safe. Are you in Brooklyn?

Dr. Michael Elice on LI might be a good dr for you. He’s in network with some insurance plans.

Thanks! Do you know anyone personally who used him for PANDAS?

Also, I can go to Brooklyn just as easily if you have someone to recommend there.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
