agreed. our bonded leather couch started to shed.
reclining couches really are more comfortable but you can't really put a cover over them when they get gross or to prevent them from getting gross.

Don’t get the old fashioned stick mechanism if you’re buying couches that open up with footrests.

Make sure its comfortable. I replaced a really comfy couch with what I thought was pretty much the same. Apparently the new couch is a few inches shorter and just not as comfortable. Now no one wants to hang out in that room as much anymore.

What kind of advice are you seeking?

What is your price range?

What are your expectations in terms of the sofa and how will it be used.

It is not a good idea to buy a sofa without testing it out because you want to make sure the sofa is comfortable.

If you are not looking for a disposable type of sofa - ie one that is cheap and not intended to last for more than a few years, you should take a bit of time to educate yourself on how a quality sofa is constructed so you can ask intelligent questions about the construction as well as tell from your initial inspection.

What is the frame made of and how is it constructed?

How are the springs constructed?

What is used to fill the cushions? These things impact comfort and to some extent longevity.

Do you want a single cushion for seating? Do you want a tight back sofa - e.g. one that doesn't use large pillows for the back? These things impact comfort.

I have a leather couch and love it. Feel it stays cleaner than a fabric.

Don't buy a couch without first sitting on it for a good 10 minutes at least!

Palliser is a great company if you could afford it. I got the Palliser in the Zubi style in fabric and am very happy with it. It’s chic and extremely comfortable and good quality. We loved it so much that we got a second one for a different room just in a different color fabric.
