What is this I hear it's $60 to drive from ny to nj?? I only drive once a week, maybe twice, and my ezpass account threshold just went up to $150!!! I can't afford this anymore!!

I guess it depends how you go.
For me, just tolls is between $30-$35.
I take the verazzano, outbridge and parkway.
If you take the turnpike it's slightly more

Yup, traveling between NY and NJ is pricy. Tolls alone aren't $60, maybe $30-$35. But when. You account for gas for the round trip journey could easily be about $50 total (depending what car you have and where you're traveling to and from). When we were first married it used to cost me more to travel to my parents for a shabbos then it would to stay home and make shabbos myself.

Is there a non-toll route at all?
Or do all routes include tolls?

I was about to make a trip to NJ but hearing this I'm reconsidering.

The bridges are insane. My husband commutes ny->NJ 3 days a week and it's $500 per month on the E-ZPass. It's around $40-50 round trip depending on which way you go.

You should maybe specify where you're going from and where to. Manhattan to Teaneck isn't the same as Queens to Teaneck or Lakewood to Brooklyn, kwim?

Brooklyn to Lakewood is approx $33 in tolls (round trip).
The Verrazano is split $6 something each way. The outerbridge is $13 something only coming back to NY, and then the parkway is a couple dollars each way.

Add in gas and yes it’s not cheap
