Hi all
I'm a sahm and someone asked me if I can work in a daycamp and they would pay a babysitter to watch my baby while I work
I'm not super thrilled as I got used to our routine and life as a sahm but could really use the money
How much do you think is fair per week, cash, for hours 9-5?
Thank sooooo much!

It depends on your standards .
The question I ask myself when I'm offered a job etc is this:
For how much money is it worth it for me to do this? 9-5 is exhausting. Btdt.
For me, I'd need to get 2k a week to justify the cost to my ns and physical well being and lost time with my child.
For someone else their line in the sand could be 1k a week.
I think it's an individual decision.

And you’re being paid cash, you’d then need to declare? That factors in how much you need to be paid.

I don't think this is the norm. But it is the amount that I would need to come home with in order for it to be worth it for me.
What's an amount you'd need to receive in order for you to accept the job offer?

This is with paid babysitting too! I work in a field where you need a masters degree and make 80K plus get great benefits. That is still less than 2K/week (unless you factor in the cost of benefits maybe)

Wow. I just took a job for $20/hr pretax and paying a babysitter. I need money, starting out so taking what is offered, and working 15/hrs a week. It’s going to be $300/week before taxes. Very small amount but larger than $zero.

I got paid $550 for 9-3 with babysitting. I think you can ask for anywhere between $600-$800/week.

I worked in a day camp a 2-3 yrs ago and was offered 4,000 for the whole summer, hours 9-4:15 (so just 500 a week!)
I ended up taking it bec we made up to minus 1000 from my salary and instead take my dds into camp for free (camp would have cost me about 3,000 for them altogether) so I technically made $6000 (3,000 salary and 3,000 for free day camp) plus almost 1000 in tips (I knew beforehand that the parents there usually tip) so I ended up making around $7,000 for the summer.

At least fifteen years ago I worked as a day camp counselor, in BP, 10-3 pm M-T, and two hours on Friday.

I got 400 cash, excluding babysitting.
Fifteen years ago. Looooong time ago.
