No one gives breaks anymore or it's so expensive. What did our parents pay?

Not sure what you are looking for here. I never went to camp, my parents paid my tuition thru high school and part of seminary. I paid for some of seminary, plus college, myself.

My parents paid for us to go to day camp because it was childcare for them while they worked. As soon as my sibling and I wanted to go to overnight camp, we applied to every and any scholarship and grant we could get, did the required volunteer hours, wrote the essays, babysat, had Sunday jobs... whatever we had to do to get there, and overnight camp was just about nothing for us the summers we went. My daughter did the same when she went the one summer. Any other summer my kids went to camp, including this summer, myself or my husband worked there so it was free and a paid job on top of that (DH is a teacher so he can do it).

I remember very clearly my father complaining that he had to pay $225 per kid per month. Camp was like $1400 after some breaks.
Now in almost pay that a week….

My mother got a break for tuition because she was a divorced mom. It was $150 for both me and my sister together for the month.
Camp was $1600 for the summer but my mother was given a scholarship for part of it.
My mother didn’t discuss finances with me but I overheard conversations.

My parents paid full tuition but once in a while my grandparents helped. I didn't like going to camp, I preferred staying home.

Camp- my parents worked there and still had to pay. I never asked how much as that would be chutzpah.
School tuition- HS was about 15K /year. I graduated HS in 1993.

My parents paid more tuition then I do and probably made same or less.
They believed very strongly in paying full and not having everything in life.
We pay full to - it’s just much cheaper in our town

I think my parents paid around 1,800 for one half of camp 25 years ago and I pay 2,600. It's comparable.
