In the google ads on the side of the page, I have this advertisement

Naughty Seat

Time out loses its effectiveness if kids don't observe it. The Naughty Seat ensures kids stay put for the duration, without requiring your constant supervision.

Kids can't outsmart this "Time Out" seat! It makes sure naughty little ones observe their time out, even when you leave the room.
The ingenious cushion has a clever weight sensor inside — if your child gets up, it sounds an alarm!
Ensures time out is taken seriously.

Along the same lines, this company also makes a time-out pad ~

Time Out Pad

Helps parents make the most of the naughty step technique.

Time Out Pad

Built-in timer to select between 1 to 5 minutes
Pressure pad that alerts the parent if the child gets off during the countdown
Traffic light and sound let the child know when the time-out is finished
How It Works

Simply set the built-in timer to the desired time-out duration (usually one minute per year of the child's age) and sit the child on the pressure sensitive pad.
If the child gets up before the end of the programmed time, an alarm sounds to alert the parent or carer, and the countdown will pause until the child sits back down.
Once the full time-out countdown has elapsed, the finish tune is played to let everyone know that the session has ended. The child should then apologise and be rewarded with a big hug!

What do you all think? (No, I'm not thinking of getting one! Wink )

It's kind of a funny idea and kind of not.
I wonder how I'd feel as a kid that mom went out and had to buy a special device just to punish me. But how is that diff from designating a special corner? I don't know...it feels different...

I don't know...I'm really ambivalent...I'm really curious to see what other people say...

I feel that it doesn't give the kids any confidence to be good. If they see we got a special seat for punishment then they might have the feeling :why be good. my parents anyway don't believe that I can be good if they buy it.
