I just finished this book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini.
It's a deeply emotional, moving story about 2 women, their life and struggle.
This book makes you think, puts your own life in perspective. The story touches you to the core.

Quote:
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan’s last thirty years—from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to the post-Taliban rebuilding—that puts the violence, fear, hope, and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives—the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness—are inextricable from the history playing out around them.

this is a great great book I loved it! it was heartbreaking but also uplifting bc you really see what people have gone through in their life and how they still make something of themselves.

khaled hosseini's other book the kite runner was also good, but a thousand splendid suns was more enjoyhable bc it was about women so I identified more.
