This is super common, especially at age 3. It seems to be a pivotal time.
Any change in routine or location, no matter how big or small, can get kids to have bathroom problems. Some kids will make and not care at all, others will have anxiety and hold it in all day long until it hurts them.
I agree with posters who say that diapers are not the way to go. They may be more convenient in the short run, but you will regret it. Better to focus on keeping him on track, so he doesn't lose the gains he's made in training. Come September you will thank me.
