We should have a large tax refund from our 2020 taxes. Our accountant efiled and it should come in a DD. We have been waiting months for it!

We got our child payment thing for the first time today, but we still didn't get our refund. My husband keeps checking and it keeps saying processing. The accountant says he can't help.

Is anyone else having this?
Any suggestions for us?
Thank you.

You can try calling the IRS but it’s going to be a waste of time, they’re just going to tell you to wait. If it says processing it means it was received and they are working on it, and if they have anything holding it up (like questions on specifics) they will mail you a letter. They are just very behind this year. My update online changed from processing to sent about 2 weeks ago- and I had it in my account the next day

Same issue. Filed a couple of months ago, still processing. I think it has to do with my baby born beginning of 2020 since they need to send all the stimulus monies for her we're owed and it wasn't so automatic.
So my monthly payment today didn't include her which I figured. But the strangest thing is that it gave me only 250/child (other than her) even though I definitely should get a higher amount for my almost 4 yo.

Yes I think we are owed 500 for our baby from the first stimulus but that's it. So in situations like you and I, how long are we expected to wait?

Yes, we also got 250 for our little kids. If you find out what to do about that, feel free to post it here!

I was also owed 500 for the first stimulus. But I got my return ages ago. So I don’t think it’s that.

Same here, still didn't get the federal refund. Very frustrating since we were relying on it to pay certain big expenses.

Same here! I actually JUST got my 2019 tax return Can't Believe It
That means I never received even one stimulus check- we just got the third one but none of the others.

Accountant says not to worry but yes we also expect a large 2020 return and have not received anything. As someone stated I assume it has to do with having a baby in 2020 and having a lot of stimulus money claimed on our return.

I hope it comes soon but meanwhile we always say Hashem will send the money when He knows we need it.

Accountant here and I prepare 100s of tax returns. I would estimate that the IRS is taking 4-5 months on approximately 1/2 of the tax returns. Mainly those that ask for the missing stimulus.

The advance child tax credit is based on 2020 or 2019 if 2020 hasnt been filed or processed.

It seems like a lot of the deposits are incorrect. Dont worry, it will all get straightened out on next year's tax return.

PLEASE dont bother your accountant with it!

Oy, we waited for a LONG time--we filed in February and got it in June I think, but we did finally get it and they forgot to add in our 2020 baby, but somehow I got someone on the phone quickly and they rectified it within a few weeks.

Can I bother you instead of my accountant? Please.

I have one child under 17 and a 17 yr old. I believe I'm only supposed to get the child care credit for the one under 17, and the letter I got from the IRS said that we'll get $250 a month. But I got $500! Am I supposed to return the extra? I don't want to get in trouble for something so stupid.

I'm sure it will get straightened out on next year's return but what will be the turnaround time for that?
Sounds like it's a mess waiting to happen and many many more people will have requests to make for errors made this year compared to the 2020 tax return and requesting stimulus money which is already so held up.

I guess some of our tax money now needs to go towards hiring more IRS staff to keep up with all the work they have. Pretty ironic.

Unfortunately, they might not be hiring anyone.

We filed in March and are still waiting for the refund. I had a baby in 2020, didn't realize that might be the issue.
