I'm also in the market for a new digital camera. I just looked on Overstock.com and they have some really good ones for good prices. I saw a Minolta with 3.2 MP, which is fine for your run of the mill family pics, comes with a battery recharger, 512MB memory card , for $150. It's also factory refurbished, which some of you may not like, but those products come with a warranty and they are vigorously tested before they are put on sale. We have a friend who is a big fan of refurbished products(like his PC ) . They are a lot cheaper and feels that they are a lot more reliable because of the rigorous standards they have to meet before selling them.

I have a kodak DX7440
what I like about it is:
its sturdy and not fragile,
it has a very large screen for viewing your pics.
the time it takes to reload between pics is very quick, maybe a half second. when you have a baby moving you need quick.
its easy to use.
it also takes nice videos which can then be emailed.
its 4 MPs which is enough for up to 10x13 enlargements
it was a good price. dont remember now how much but not too bad.

it was rated in the top 10 editors picks on consumer reports.
hope this helps.

I like my Canon Powershot 5.0 MP.

it's great for our needs, simple to use, great pictures. I got some nice 8 by 10 enlargements with mine. I also use it for 2 minute movies.

I paid 200$ at Best Buy, but it was the same price at all the major retailers.

the only fault I found with it is that it has a small delay, like 1-2 seconds, from the time you press the shutter til the picture is taken. sometimes it made me miss some good shots.

I would recommend it if you don't want to spend a fortune...

I'm looking for a camera now and this looks really good, esp since there are used ones available now on amazon for cheap.
are you still using it?
