Im applying for NJFAMILY CARE health insurance they are asking me to pick an HMO I have no clue whats better than what -

can someone advice?

Also I would want Dr Giovine to be able to accept whatever it is that I eventually end up with.

Anyone who has any experience with this I'd really appreciate.

Thanks in advance

If it's for you, thrn find out which the doctor you are using accepts. Not all docs accept all. If it's for the kiddies, I'd say Horizon NJ Health. That is what Dr. Shanik recommends. Good Luck! LOL

Thanx - it did occur to me to just call Giovine's office but I wasnt sure if they would think I was crazy for calling to ask such a silly question.

Anyone else have experience?

I think people chose Horizon because CHOP was a Horizon Mercy Hospital- If im not mistaken CHOP is no longer with Horizon - you should verify this if you can before choosing.

I had to choose Horizon bc at the time, that was the only HMO from NJ Family Care that the Prenatal clinic I had to go to would take.

But it changes, bc 2 yrs earlier, they only took UHP.

I would see what you need it for, and pick drs/HMO accordingly. I mean, in my situation, I had to do what the prenatal clinic took. Luckily, I didn't have to change pediatricians when I changed NJ Family Care HMOs bc dc's dr took both UHP and Horizon.

Also, I would ask pediatricians what has better coverage in your area bc my pediatrician at that time said that Horizon has more ENTs in the area , and sometimes children can need ENT's, cvs or other pediatric specialists.

We lived in Morris County. I'm not sure where you live.

I think that is true. And Dr. Shanik now said to use Americhoice
CHOP is Children's Hospital of Philadelphia but they no longer take Horizon.
Dr. Giovene takes Americhoice.
