I just got this email from Amazon:

We wanted to let you know that we recently updated our Conditions of Use. One of our updates involves how disputes are resolved between you and Amazon. Previously, our Conditions of Use set out an arbitration process for those disputes. Our updated Conditions of Use provides for dispute resolution by the courts. So if I buy a toaster for 100.00 that doesnt work, I have to go to court to get a refund?
How will it work, going forward?

I doubt it means anything.
If Amazon stopped refunds, their business is over.

This is not for refunds. It is for cases where you want to take it a step further. Till now amazon preferred to resolve cases via arbitration instead of courts, but now they've reversed course. Here's the reason why:
