I'd like to sleep over with my boys [14/16] in a hotel and
watch sunrise with them in the morning
anyone did this and have suggestions?

It’s a beautiful idea but just so you know nice sunrise/sunset doesn’t happen every day. You need a lot of mazel it should pinkt happen the day you want. Some people need to go 30 days in a row to get one nice view.

I am not sure what kind of insight you are seeking.
My home has an unobstructed eastern exposure and so I see the sun rise every morning. Depending on weather conditions, it can be spectacular or just the sky becoming gradually not dark. If it is foggy or cloudy it is not spectacular.
My advice would be to wake up early and just drive someplace where you can view the sun rise. If you live on the east coast sun rise over the ocean is spectacularly beautiful if the conditions are good.

Amarante how often would you say sunrise is spectacular, approximately?
