High price of leasing what? Cars? Apartments in a particular place? Something else?

I think it is likely short term. New car production is slowed or stopped across many brands due to supply chain shortages from Covid shutdowns a year ago. These supply chain shortages are being felt across many industries, including the auto industry. When new cars are being manufactured back at their normal pace, lease prices will likely drop again.
