I’m partial to Basya (my daughter’s name), but it’s seriously one of my all time favorites. It’s got a real princessy vibe, doesn’t it? 🥰

My daughter's name. Search imamother for shifra threads and you'll see why I named her that (was also name of an ancestor)

הינדא rearrange the letters and you get shem ad-nai and a hei for Hashem left over. A tzadik said this many years ago about this name.

So… only speaking for myself here, obviously, but when my husband and I were choosing names, I legit felt nauseous when it was the wrong name. Like, morning sickness ramping up. It could have been one of my favorite names ever that I just *knew* I’d name a future baby, but if it wasn’t the right name for THAT baby, it turned my stomach. (I was so sad for that to happen about Tehila and Ayelet and Aliza, etc etc. so sad, lol, such great names!!). When we chose Basya (my grandmother’s name, and she passed during my pregnancy), it felt like peace. It felt like, YES! That’s who my baby is.

With my firstborn, I wasn’t actually even a fan of the name upfront. He’s named after my husband’s grandfather. I put up a fight against it at first, but no other names felt right. I loved “Yehuda,” and kept trying to make it fit, but it just didn’t. I even told my husband, “I think we’ll have a Yehuda one day, but it’s not THIS baby.” (We did. And it wasn’t ;-))

At about 7 months along with my first (the one whose name I was half heartedly resisting), I was getting ready for bed one night, totally not even thinking about it, and it suddenly the realization struck: “That’s his name.”

If there’s a such thing as ruach hakodesh baby naming, I believe I’ve experienced it. I think all babies get the right name eventually. Sometimes you know it earlier or later, but it’ll come. Funnily enough, Yehuda was the one we named the latest into the process. Go figure. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trust yourself, OP! And trust Hashem. He knows the baby He’s sending you, and He’ll help you know her too! 💕

Bshaa tova!
