Following.

Three years ago I paid under $300 for leasing a 2018 Rav4.

Now I think it went up.

The rates of car leases have skyrocketed the last year.

There is a car shortage right now. Many parts are backordered. It is not going to go down in the very near future (as per Dhs friend who leases cars)

Not sure. Dhs friend said they have to redesign some things in new cars to accommodate for the shortage and same year models may be slightly different. Maybe ask your leasing company what they anticipate.

The prices are crazy now and there's a real shortage.
We just got a Toyota highlander, the lowest model, we're paying $470.
We previously had a fully loaded highlander and paid $400.

Prices went up even before covid. Glad I was able to get a lease the December before covid in 2019. I pay 250 for a fully loaded hybrid Ford Fusion. May just buy it off even lease is up if the prices keep up like this.

That seems like a good price for the market. Where did you lease from?

Leased it in Monsey but all dealers should be able to get you the same deal.
It's expensive for a low model car. It literally has no features. The same car fully loaded with all features cost us $400 last time.

Leased 2018 Rogue S, 15k miles per year, $215/mo

Leased 2021 Rogue SV, 15k miles per year, $345/mo (it was only $10/mo diff to upgrade from the S to the SV)

I used the same broker in Monsey both times.

FWIW, my mileage is better on the 2021 SV vs. the 2018 S because it's a different transmission, so I'm getting some savings return there.

David at EZ Auto Leasing 845.640.1223

I live a couple hours OOT, and he was really easy to work with. I suppose it's even easier if you are in town or in the Tri State Area.

There was a car shortage. My husband got a car about 4 months before his lease was up because it was cheaper to get it early than to wait till his lease was up. He's paying about $450 for a Honda ridgeline. If he would have waited another 2 months of it cost him about 600.

Wow. Is there less of a shortage now?

Back in March, it was very competitive given that I put very little down.

I suppose that's also a consideration---I put very little down on both leases.

I could have gotten a lower payment with more put down. Also keep in mind I pay for more miles up front---which is about $7-10/mo.

I could have paid slightly less if I switched to a Kia Sportage in 2021, but I wanted to stick with a Nissan.

also, those numbers include taxes etc.

Many dealers/brokers quote monthly payments without taxes, etc. applied. Those two numbers were the quotes from my broker and are the payment, including taxes, that I pay monthly.
