You can use a double deep 9x13 pan, pour a bit of sauce, lay meatballs on top, cover with sauce, seal and bake at 350 for 1.5 - 2 hours.

I think the authentic italian way is to fry them first in oil. I like to bake them - it is really quick and easy. Make sauce in seperate pot, bake meatballs for about 20 minutes. You can then throw them into the pot of sauce to simmer.
I'm not sure which way tastes better but this way I can have supper ready in 30 minutes.
Also my kid who doesn't like sauce with her meatballs just eats them plain or in a pita.

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of-getting a crust lol

they don't get a crust if you don't cook too long. We like the crust.

amother [ OP ] wrote: | Do you cook them in a pot with sauce or bake them plain first (and then add to sauce)? I really don’t like the taste of meat so I need my meatballs with tons of sauce so I always cook them in a pot with a ton of sauce and always end up with some of them getting partially burned (even with stirring.) I’ve seen some recipes online that call for oven baking them but I’m imagining them getting so dry and gross like that even after adding them to sauce. What experiences have you had? |
I pour a lot of sauce into a 9x13, form the meatballs (after mixing them with lots of spices) and dump them in the sauce, cover and bake. They don’t burn.
