Hi
I have a daughter who's 19
She has hydrocephalus
Cognitively she's very smart and articulate
Shes mature beyond her years and since she's gone through alot by now(surgeries hospital stays etc) petty things girls her age are interested in just aren't on her mind
Can anyone relate?
Any ideas of how to connect others like her?

I read about a support group for teens with chronic illnesses years ago in one of the teen magazines. Maybe try contacting the magazines and asking if they have the contact info for the organization? I think the organization was called my team or something like that. You can reach out to Twirl (Binah Magazine) and Teen Pages (Mishpacha Magazine) to see if they have the contact info.

They have a great support group for girls with non life threatening chronic illness.
They may be able to help you find what you’re looking for.

There is an organization called YALLA for young adults with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities but are cognitively normal. Email is yallaprograms@gmail.com. They have functions, trips, Shabattons. You can find out if it's suitable for your daughter.
