My son is very sensory and very affectionate, quite a tactile kid. he had ot a few years ago, and it helped him somewhat, but I never felt like his sensory seeking (not wanting to be touched but wanting TO touch) was ever really addressed, but it's his nature. but I've noticed that he also holds himself *there* quite often (through his trousers), and it's not always because he needs the toilet. is this normal? Anyone else have this experience with a sensory sensitive boy? Any advice?

I had that with my son. Finding underwear that fit him more snugly and that he found more comfortable helped.

You need to teach boys it's not allowed to do that and they become accustomed to not doing it.

Even if it is normal, you still need to teach a child not to do it.

All boys and men do this. It sticks out, it's easy and convenient to fondle, and it feels nice.

I agree with the amother above, that they need to be taught not to do it. It's not polite.

Is he otherwise neurotypical? Think a lot depends on the context. It’s definitely not uncommon, but can still be a sign of other things within a certain context. Zeroing in on what’s going on can help you best address it.
