Is there any way to eat dried dates safely with braces?

My daughter just got braces and she'd desperately like to eat dates. Is there any way to do this safely?

I used to eat almost anything with braces (maybe not gum). Just be careful! Take small bites. Chew well. Dont yank on anything....
