The Exiles of Crocodile Island - henya meyer
My 12 year old son really enjoyed these non-fiction
Incredible
Our Man in Jerusalem
A daughter of two mothers
Behind the walls

Zman magazines
Book of Amazing facts and feats

Thank you!

I got henye meyers newest book and he didn't have patience. I don't think he tried past the first few pages, because I started reading it, and am enjoying.
I'll encourage him to pick it up again.
He enjoyed incredible and our man in jerusalem, the yerushalmi, gedolim biographies, Zman (which I personally don't love at all)...

I will try the others, but he might think they're too "girlish" LOL
A daughter of two mothers is amazing

The Exiles of Crocodile Island she wrote in 1984 absolutely amazing historical fiction if anything boyish. Not comparable to her other books. When I read it I cry but I doubt a kid would cry

So there's a whole series by Rabbi Deutsch. And try Dual Discovery. And My Last Year in Mitzrayim (Greenbaum).

I love love love the Cohen's of Tzfat. There's another book like Meir URI Gottesman called The Scribe I don't remember the author's name.
I also loved the exiles of crocodile island but found it very very sad and difficult to read. It includes mental illness which I found a little scary and traumatizing in elementary school\high school.

The Scribe is by Uri Raskin.

Here's another book: Power Plays by Yonah Klein.

MC Millman (newest book Operation Sink the Sub)
Far From the Place We Called Home by Sarah Schleimer
Miriam Walfish: In the Fire, The Stars with Guide You
Yechezkel Yudkowsy: When the Ice Melts, The Chip
Libby Lazewnik's Little Black Box trilogy just came out as an all in one thrillogy.
The Broken Bracelet by Rabbi Gershon Kranzler
Yehudis Litwak's books
Tales of Faith by Rabbi Halpern

Without calling out any books in my various posts, some I'd sooner buy than others. I'm hoping you have a Jewish library available.

I would definitely buy far from the place we call home. That's a classic.

There are two choose your own adventures type books, one by Leah Sokol (supposed to be excellent) and The Adventures of Daniel Trigo (Neppe).

Raphael Sackville - Legacy of Gold, Prince of Akko

Other MC Millman books - Mind Your Own Business, Mastermind (delightfully outdated), a few books about a shul - The Locked Shul? I don't remember.
RL Leader - Faithful Soldiers, another book the title of which I forgot
There's a series, It's a Kids' World After All, along the lines of KidsSpeak. V. 6 is also about the cantonists though I liked Faithful Soldiers better.
Oh, and M Kenan has a wild ride of a book on that tekufa, a stand alone, shorter than the Kuzari books, called Wildlands.

Thank you, everyone!

I don't usually start a post, and I'm so you touched and honored that so many responded. And so many of you posted under your username, and you're imas that I really admire and wish I knew in real life!!

My son started school and is doing his HW really late because he is BH so caught up in reading Wink so my Dh doesn't want me getting any more until YT or when he gets into routine but I have bookmarked this thread so I can go back to this awesome list of suggestions.

To pinkfridge: we are BH blessed that our PUBLIC libraries carry frum books where I live (not even tristate area). I never buy books, and haven't had the need (yet) to join the local frum library!
So if the library had the suggested books, we get them. Otherwise, it's okay.
And maybe the school library will have them, too.

Again, thank you to all the wonderful imas for their wonderful suggestions!
Tizkena lemitzvos and kesiva vachasima tovah!

(And if you ever think of another book, you can come back and post, because I will rechecking here and there!)
