My baby is about 7 months old. I gave her solids for the first time a couple weeks ago. She really doesn't like it and barely swallows anything. I'm not in a rush to give her real food at all. Some of my kids ate food a lot later than this. The problem is I feel like my baby is hungry sometimes since she's going through a growth spurt and wants to nurse all day. She did have major surgery a couple months ago and it's now catching up on her weight. Any ideas to help her ease into eating real food a little bit. (I'm not interested in supplementing with formula so don't want suggestions for that)

Are you doing baby led weaning? If not look it up. Just keep offering different foods. It’s new and takes time for baby adjust.

Just the standard suggestions, sorry if you're already doing it.... Try about fifteen minutes after a breast (or bottle) feed so she's happy. Let her play with the food (yes, it gets messy).
I started on purees but at 5 months, so I'm not sure if you always need to start with purees especially if older. By six months I needed to introduce finger food for my baby to be interested. Now at 9 months, I always give her food she can hold while I spoon feed the mushier stuff, otherwise she gets bored.

I'm not sure what baby led weaning is. By my other kids I was not so on top of introducing one thing at once. I just kind of give whatever we have that's soft. I am just careful that she basically has mostly organic food and whole grains. I usually nurse until at least 18 months so she gets that as well.

My last baby skipped the puree stage and went straight for real food. I gave her finger foods that she could do herself-pieces of soft foods like banana, avocado, cheese and I can't remember what else. But that's the idea behind baby led weaning that they want to be independent and to let them choose that they want to eat.

Most of my kids hated the purees and I went straight to real foods--challah, cheerios, banana, applesauce (real kind, not baby). I took a lot of my baby foods and made muffins with them and my kids liked that.
