It's not, people leave their common sense at the door before they go on with their days, it seems.

I have seen that many parents do things that I would never do. Some people have different standards. But I’m with you OP.

I think it’s crazy too. But I know of many parents that do it. Even kids younger than that.

With Uber it's a little safer because you can track the car. It's not totally nuts

Omg I'd never feel comfortable with that!
Not even an uber. Even I feel uncomfortable when I need to take a taxi which is bh very rare bc we have 2 cars.

Well if it's a special ed school please contact opt. They give each student an eligibility code for a free curb taxi. Although an adult has to join the taxi. Just saying arranging this will make not having school bus transportation easier for the parents.

I got today an email from the DOE about it and from my childs school. I would never send any of my kids alone in a car. Special ed or not! But the no transportation thing until sept 13 is very stressful for all special needs parents

Even at 15 we don't allow it unless we're on the phone with them the whole time and tracking via the Uber app. And only daytime. And we still freak out and hardly do it.

Do their mothers drive?
If not that needs to be taken into consideration...

Nope. Our school does not let any student into a car service alone- if needed then a teacher or assistant or staff member will ride along.

I’ll use this to be Dan lkaf zchus, but I don’t think it’s a reasonable excuse. You shouldn’t jeopardize your children’s safety because you don’t drive. Siz nisht kein teritz
