You should definitely be feeding a newborn every few hours until they reach their birth weight.

Mazal tov H&F! So happy to hear that you had a little girl Heart may you have a lot of nachas from her and your son!!
I found that gently rubbing their cheek while they were nursing sometimes helped keep them awake through the feed for the first few weeks

I had the same with my ds, he was born 5.5 lbs and needed those feeds! It was really hard and stressful! But it only lasts a couple of weeks or so, till they are out of this fresh newborn stage. Good Luck!

Mazal tov! My 4 month old has pretty much always fallen asleep during feedings. She was 6 lb at birth, and was 14.2 lb at her 4 month checkup. Don't worry!
