My DS and I ended up in the hospital for the first day of Rosh Hashana due to an injury he sustained outside of shul. We were rushed in Hatzolah and it was a very chaotic day. Baruch HaShem he’s doing ok. Just has stitches. It was almost mincha time by the time I got home with him from the hospital and we needed to get a prescription of antibiotics filled to prevent infection. He was started on antibiotics in the hospital but I had no way of getting to a pharmacy on Yom Tov or getting the meds without payment. We knocked on all our frum neighbors doors asking if they had any leftover Ceflex sitting around. We needed a few doses until Motzai Yom Tov.
Our non Jewish neighbor greeted my DH “Happy Rosh Hashana” and they began shmoozing. DH asked him if he had Ceflex and explained our predicament. Our neighbor was so kind and offered to drive to our pharmacy and to lay out the money to get my son his meds. And he did. When he returned with the medication, I handed him a tray full of homemade pastries I made for Yom Tov, and told him “Here is an array of sweets in appreciation of your sweet gesture. It’s because of you, that I’m able to have peace of mind. Thank You”.
I want to get him a gift though. I’m super grateful for what he did for us. It was a 20 minute drive each way, for him. He even called the pharmacy before going to make sure they were still going to be open and he confirmed they had filled the prescription for my son. I think he went above and beyond anything I’ve ever expected . Do you have any gift ideas? DH says not to give alcohol as he read somewhere that it’s not appropriate to gift alcohol incase the person is an alcoholic. So what else can I give him? Price range : under $50
