DS 10 yrs old has been telling me that there is a boy in his class that curses. He often says h-ll, what the heck/fudge and occasionally even the f bomb. I'd feel like such a tattle and so self-righteous going to the Rebbe or principal. It's definitely not something I can bring up with the kid's mother (I don't even know her.) Of course I spoke to my son about the importance of clean speech despite what others around us are doing, but is that enough? Or do I need to do something about this situation? What would you do?

The school may know and may be dealing with it, but they may not be.
I once had a kindergartner in my son's class say, "I know the F word."
dh and I were horrified and told our son he could never ever ever say that.
I wanted to call menahel, dh didn't want me to.
I ended up calling menahel about two weeks later abt something else, and since I was speaking to him anyway, mentioned it.
He paused and asked when this hapoened. I told him two weeks ago.
He said that the school knew, and they dealt with it, and he was relieved it wasn't a repeated incident.
The boy had a brother in PS for special needs, and brought the nivul peh home.
Menahel said to me- if anything like that EVER happens, you MUST call me right away.

I'm a teacher, I had a student who came from public school and would use profanity among her friends but was very careful near adults. I appreciated when a parent called me to discuss it.
