DH wants to take me out for my birthday tonight and we're looking for somewhere new to go.
He's a bit picky as he's not a steakhouse type, he prefers dairy really.
What would you recommend that has a nice ambiance, food is a little different but not too out of the box, is not a steakhouse (but can be fleishigs, just not serving steak exclusively) and is special enough for the rare time we go out?
For example, we love love Pescada and DH was very unimpressed with the Loft, if you're recommending anything, I would love to hear your favorite item on the menu as well.

Thanks, I don't think that really has the nicest ambiance.
Any other suggestions?

Salt in NJ supposed to be out of this world but I'm almost sure it's a steakhouse.
I love the restaurants in Crown Heights. Forgot their names, gonna try searching.

She already said they don't like the loft (I love it) and prefer dairy.
Renaissance on Kings Highway is dairy and dh loves it. The ambiance isn't ten star but way above your local pizza shop and the staff are great. The menu has a lot of choices.

Abaita in Manhattan very nice, small place but great food and a nice ambiance. All the food is good, pizza and pasta especially.
Basil in Crown Heights also has a nice ambiance, I find the food to be hit or miss recently. Their pizza is great.
The new Noi Due in Manhattan has solid food and nice ambiance as well.

Thanks, I just looked at their menu and it sounds really nice.
So now deciding between Tiberias, Noi Due Cafe and Alenbi, What would you choose?

Alenbi is sophisticated interesting Israeli inspired fleishig food. Noi Due is classic Italian dairy, nice ambiance. Tiberias is a notch lower, just kind of popular favorites that people like. Not a very fancy place, not in the league of Noi Due and definitely not Alenbi.

Yes. Good food, nice and clean place. Israeli fleishig. Not too expensive. Excellent service. We enjoy eating there
