Which book is this? Who wrote it? Is it fiction or true story?

Surrounding family can’t always step in, but I don’t understand his wife.
Some people have no brains of their own.
The family could have at least involved CPS though.

This sounds quite judgemental. Probably best to not judge someone going through a tough situation.

Read it over shabbos. The progression from migraines, ocd, quirky to paranoid, delusional, psychotic screams autoimmune encephalitis to me, a la Susannah Cahallan in Brain On Fire. Such a shame it wasn’t recognized when Chananyah was growing up.

I also thought it was heart-breaking. The poor kids. So much dysfunction and trauma, I hope they still have a chance at normal life.
It seemed like the wife had some kind of mental illness as well.

I also think the wife must have had something going on as well. There is no way a healthy functional woman wouldn’t see through that.

What a strange and sad story. I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong but now that autoimmune encephalitis has been mentioned it’s like bingo. So so sad. I can’t understand the wife. Seems like she has somewhat low intelligence?

Some details don't make sense. He has parents and sisters that know what's going on. Why aren't they doing anything about it? Why are they just sitting back and allowing him to abuse his kids? Why don't they call 911 and have him admitted to the psychiatric ward? Why don't they step in to help?

it was such a sad, sad story. I hope with Hashem's help the situation will be resolved for all involved in the best way possible.
