My 8 week old baby doesn't stop crying. All day. Even when I hold him. He hasn't got colic and I've got medication for reflux and his stomach. What am I to do? Will this stop eventually?

Are you nursing? formula fed?
Does he sleep better on his tummy?

What medication is he on?

Are you burping him enough?

My baby with reflux could only sleep on her stomach. As long as your baby can turn his head please do not let anyone scare you into saying a baby cant sleep on stomach.

You have to get to the root cause of why he has reflux, medication masks the symptoms but doesnt heal it.

Keep your baby upright after feeds and make sure you burp well. Feed your baby in a position that keeps his head higher than his tummy

What do you mean isnt colic? That was the definition I was given for my baby who cried non stop, by Dr. After Dr. (Including many many specialists) from about 1 .5 till 6 months (still cried a ton but wasnt all day and night), never slept well despite every single possible attempt (truly I can list so many things we tried and for days at a time for consistency), had no medical issues bh, fed well (gaining weight) and would refuse to calm down with all different forms of comfort , for more than 5 minutes at a time. Tried it all- stomach/gas drops, holding positions, more nursing, pacis, swing, car rides, changing positions, changing diet, changing enviorment. But all he ever did was cry. Hes a highly demanding infant now, and can tantrum really intensely for his age. But hes also really really happy when hes happy. But after months and months and months of crying (along with him) and shlepping to get him checked by yet another specialist, I was told time and time again, that "good thing is, its just colic". Perhaps for you that's chizzuk. For me- it was not. I felt so much guilt and I am still not able to let go of the feeling of not being able to sooth my own child. But yes, iyh it does get better.

Omeprazole has a bunch of side effects including headaches and stomach pain. My baby was miserable and cried all day when I had him on it and was waaay happier off of it.

Hugs , momma. My 8 month old was like that for a long time. She's still a very challenging baby, doesn't sleep well, wants to be held a lot.

Get help, as much as you can.

While baby cried as I was rocking her, I cried too out of helplessness and I davened for her that she shouldn't have any tzaros in life, she shouldn't ever have to cry again, she should grow up healthy and happy.

My baby was like that for 10 MONTHS!!! All test came back negative (allergy, GI etc). She was a different baby 3 days after I stopped milk products. They say it take 2 weeks to get out their system but 3 days was enough to completely change her. Worth a try, don't wait like I did for 10 months. Worst case, this is not an issue for your baby and you can move on to the next suggestion. (She ended up transitioning off of breast milk to elecare formula) and bh grew out of this sensitivity by around 2 years old.
