In my Beit Knesset, women dance, but not with a Torah.
There's a part of the women's section which is wide and open, to accommodate baby carriages. They keep the curtains closed there so those whom want to dance can enjoy themselves, while women whom want to watch go up on the balcony.
I generally like dancing, and when I'm tired and hot I go to watch the men

Women do dance at simchas beis hashoevas, and growing up women were given the chance to hold and kiss the torahs. Which saddens me that is not a real option where we live now either. |
In our shul, women often dance at the simchas bris hashoeva too.
Simchas Torah there is hardly any space to breathe and stand let alone dance in the women's section. Either way, mothers usually look after their children and enjoy each others company.
Whereas at the simchas Beis hashoeva, the music is too loud and we can't chat and there are less children, therefore women often dance.

No, but when I was in seminary in eretz yisrael I went to shuls that did, and till today have such warm inspiring memories. I think in my shul it would feel weird with the crowd that goes its just not the type , but in Israel it was very special.

I really wish we did. We're obligated in the mitzvos of the Torah, why can't we have some of the joy that day as well?

Yep, some people hold that way but it's not a halacha level thing. The halacha states that Torah lo mekabul tuma. Everyone avoids touching the klaf, but it isn't mekabel tuma.
So...when you put it that way...the special nidda restrictions that some people teach, seem a bit sexist. Shrug.

Cuz obviously watching men dance is way more fun than actually dancing, right?
At least I had my fun in college. Boy was that fun.

Absolutely not. I only know one baal teshuva Shul where the rabbi explained himself allowing the women to dance with a Torah… otherwise it’s not accepted.

Totally. Sometimes the reality of being a real grownup/mom hits me in a way that I do not like.
To everything there is a season.

Growing up in a B T oriented shul, at first women didn't dance. just watched. Then a few more feminist women wanted to, and set up a little mechitza area to do so.
Would never fly in typical yeshivish shuls

Not in my shul. (Lakewood, yeshivish.) We don't have a mechitzah on Simchas Torah (we use tables to block off a section of the men's side as a ezras nashim) and there's no way to dance without the men seeing (as the "mechitzah" is literally table height).
