While I work?

She’s a really busy body but the only toys that interest are those that can be eaten.

People’s dirty clothes, the hair brush, even the toilet brush 😬 (I’ve since put it away) taste way better.

If she’s bored she’ll be off in a second scooting her a way around the house.

Not my first, but my first home with me at the age. I’m blessed to be able to work at home.

I’m also looking for ideas of things to do with her when I have time. We’re do finger games and sing. What else can we do?

Keep the place where you are working with baby safe and enclosed. Close all doors to other rooms, etc.
You could buy a large playpen but he/she may not like to stay in it for too long.

I find that the toys that are most stimulating are ones with sounds /music /buttons with things popping up and down, lights, etc.

Perhaps hard baby books.

How long do you need baby to keep himself busy alone? Can you just work while he's napping, and play with him while he's awake?

Can you get a teenager to take him out for a walk?

So hard! Keeping the floor clean of dangerous items is a full time job alone! I build buildings and let my baby destroy the buildings. They also like taking things out of containers at that age.

Kitchen utensils are also a great 'toy'.
Some turned over pots and spoons are a great drumkit - depends how much silence you need while you work.

The best entertainment for babies at that age is other people.

Can you find a neighbor in a similar situation, and take turns -- one watching the two playmates and the other working?

Thanks everyone. I have a cleaner who comes two mornings a week and watches her while she cleans. She also takes a nice 2 hour back where is when I day work as well as at night.

The neighbor is at great idea but I don’t have that. Teenagers are in school.

I sometimes feel guilty keeping her home because I see how much she enjoys people. Everyone says it’s good for baby to be home the first year but I’m starting to doubt this.

Also it’s not just work, it’s anything I do. If start cooking she gets insulted I’m not playing with her. Toys really don’t keep her occupied. She loves when I sing to her. What else can I do?

I keep my kids home while I worked at those ages.

Buy baby gates and create baby safe area where you are.
Take out diff toys and books each days.
Try to do naps during busiest times. (I know at this age it starts less and less).

What type of toys are engaging for that age?

Do you work full time or part time? If full time it’s probably better to send her to a babysitter or have one come to you.

Light up flashy toys are the worst.
You want real toys that work on her skills to capture her attention. Montessori is great for this.
Also be realistic you can't get hours of uninterrupted work done.
