I think the biggest contributor to weight gain is desk jobs or overall sedentary lifestyle. ( of course majorly overeating will also contribute.) |
I beleive this too. Very much so. But what exactly am I supposed to do if I am very happy and well paid at my 9-4 desk job?

Find out if you can get a treadmill desk.

Is that not true? |
This is true. Most will gain weight first and then even out. Some won't gain weight at all. What the previous poster said is wholly inaccurate.

What's that? I actually have a cubii under my desk which I was sure would be great for weight loss but unfortunately in reality it isn't. It's almost impossible to exercise hard enough to be making any tangible difference and actually concentrate and work productively at the same time

I disagree strongly. I am part of a number of IE facebooks groups and all of them discuss the weight gain from IE. The idea is to accept yourself at your size eating what you feel your body wants. For some people it settles a bit but it is NOT a weightloss program. especially after years of dieting a person's set point is usually higher than their "ideal weight". Very few people lose weight doing IE.

1. Bike desk. Easier for me to use than treadmill desk
2. Walks or better yet, runs, during lunchtime

I think starting the day off with pilates- amazing toning work- gives a person tremendous body awareness so that even when sitting at work, you can do isometric types of moves and continuously adjust your posture. Also sitting on a slightly deflated yoga ball gives a good workout.
