How much milk did you give at the beginning? My baby is almost a week old (tonight!) and weighs 6 pounds. 2.7 kilo
He drinks about 60/70ml formula at a feed. He needs winding often. He sleeps well in between feeds usually but not from about 9pm to 2am. It's so so exhausting! Any tips how to prevent him from doing this? Should I be giving him feeds more often but less amounts?

He's more been asleep for ages, it's been almost 4 hours since his last feed!
He seemed so unsettled after his last feed (from wind) I want sure he'd settle well but he bh did in the end. I didn't sleep bc kept thinking he was going to wake up!
My 5th baby, not my 1st lol but it's been a while and every baby is different.

Can anyone advise? Thanks

I’m bottle feeding and my baby took 2 ounces in the beginning, he weighed 8.9 at birth. He’s now 5 weeks old and takes 3.5 oz every 3 hours. It sounds like your baby’s days and nights are mixed up which is very normal for that age, eventually they get it. Formula fed babies tend to go longer in between feedings then breastfed babies.

It's really hard to know.
So your baby was a lot bigger than mine and he ate less. Maybe mine is taking too much?!
He seems to struggle on the bottle after a bit so could it be he's over eating a little? And obviously then he's not going to eat every 3 hours always.

He seems to want more milk, like cluster feeds in the evenings. Maybe I give him too much and then he's unsettled bc of tummy ache 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ how am I supposed to know. The beginning is so overwhelming I don't enjoy it Sad

My pediatrician said to give half the weight in ounces by every feeding- so maybe try 3 oz at a feeding

I bottle fed afew babies and always give 1.5- 2oz in the beginning. At around 3 weeks I gradually start going up, 1/2 oz at a time.
