I also think that babies are more likely to be cold than an adult because they're smaller so they have a harder time maintaining their body temperature. I'll rather err towards the side of making sure they're warm enough. |
Actually the opposite is safer.

This is true for newborns.
You don't have a newborn anymore.
You can check how she is feeling by touching her hands and feet, nose. If she is actually cold, you will notice.

I found mainstream US brands like Carter's, GapBaby, Old Navy, OshKosh, etc. to be fine for my kids. The clothes wash well and look cute and age-appropriate.
I generally don't dress my babies like miniature adult; I dress them like babies who crawl around, can't put on/off their clothes on their own, get dirty, etc.

OP I always used long sleeve undershirts in the winter for my babies and carters has fleece footless jumpsuits that are really warm when it gets really cold. Definitely layers are key for winter.

I think winter stuff is not out yet in the non Jewish stores. I think it’s fall stuff now.

For around the house, I have the perfect solution for dirty knees.
Take a spare pair of knee socks, and cut the feet off. Now you have something to put over the tights that will not only keep the tights clean, but will pad the little knees on hard floors.
People actually make them and sell them, but why would you buy them if you have extra socks laying around? The socks don't even have to match!

I am expecting a baby in winter and I am buying regular thin cotton stretchies and bodysuits, long sleeves, leggings and tights. There are maybe 2-3 cardigans just in case.
I only got one knitted set, but it is also cotton. I feel like with such young kids it is easier to thermoregulate with layers. I have a down snowsuit for outdoors, and indoors the baby will always be in a heated room. Also if I swaddle her to sleep, it is an extra layer.
